Comments from Mark M. Murphy, President, The Fund for New Jersey, from The Grantseeker’s Guide to Winning Proposals:
What makes this proposal stand out is that the organization clearly states what issues they plan to address, they provide specific action steps, and they articulate the expected outcomes they are looking for. Also included was a realistic prospective date for accomplishment of the stated goals. In addition, the cover letter and summary convincingly convey to the reader the larger issues facing New Jersey and the need for this organization to take the lead in helping to solve them. Another strong element in this proposal was the identification of other organizations that they are collaborating with to achieve the desired outcome. In public policy work, this is important, since organizations working together will achieve the critical support needed to make change happen.
