Comments from Alexandra Armenta, Senior Program Associate, S.H. Cowell Foundation from The Grantseeker’s Guide to Winning Proposals:
The Foundation has a long history of support for the Center’s operations and programs in San Francisco, yet the majority of our current grantmaking is focused on towns and neighborhoods in Northern and Central California. Conversations with the Executive Director had already established that this was the Foundation’s interest in the project, and the proposal did a good job of keeping that front and center.
By clearly articulating the organization’s success and substantial experience in delivering programs of this type, the proposal emphasized that the proposed work would build on the Center’s strengths. One possible improvement to the proposal would have been more explicit demonstration of the impact of past programs on participants.
